Water, water everywhere but not enough for us to use our hose!

2011 beautiful Dunstable Town Council Flower display in the Square

It was noted at the Town Council Meeting this evening (which is open for the public to attend) that Dunstable Town Council has been advised by the water authority that restrictions on hose pipe use now applies! Let's hope we have enough rain for all the towns beautiful hanging baskets and other flower displays this summer, if they can't use their hose pipe!

Dunstable / My old home town by Paul Keating

I first moved to Dunstable in 2001 just before the birth of my first Daughter. Having moved from Staines, South West London, I was apprehensive to say the least about bringing my new family to a strange far away place.
I remember my first impression of Dunstable being a very busy industrial town with two scary roundabouts at the junction of High Street North and West Street. I called them “suicide roundabouts” because people almost seemed to close their eyes behind the wheel of their cars and stamp on the accelerator to get through! These roundabouts were soon replaced by the worst phasing of traffic lights in the history of Bedfordshire............

Paul contacted 'About Dunstable' with regard to using some of our photographs which were more than happy for him to use for this piece on Dunstable.

To read Paul's full story please click on the link below ~ It makes for an excellent read and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Kingsbury Bowls Club

Is holding Open Days next weekend, 5 & 6 May. Everyone who would like to have a go at this great sport is welcome - young or old. You just need to be wearing flat shoes.
Access to the Green is either across the part from Jeans Way, or through the small car park on Kingsbury Avenue, off Luton Road.

Dunstable busy...even when it's wet!

Having just taken the wellies to town, I was most surprised to see so many people about in this grotty weather. Holland & Barrett said they had been very busy, I also noticed this as I was gradually moving down the queue. Good to see so many people shopping locally. There was even a buzz about the market, with people dodging in and out the sheltered areas. Be vocal ~ Shop local and help keep our town alive!

A Blooming good opportunity for Dunstable's Pubs!

After attending meeting of local publicans yesterday we are hopeful that some if not all will take part in decorating their pubs this year in a competition for 'Best Floral Display' which will be judged as part of the 'Dunstable in Bloom' competition. All helping to make Dunstable a better place to live.
