Dunstable is to have a New Skate Park, located behind Go Bowling!

After hearing the brilliant news of a Brand New Skate Park for Dunstable, we have this detailed message from Central Beds Councillor Nigel Young:

"Nigel Young It’s taken us quite a while to get the money – but at last the young people of Dunstable get a skate park.

The cash comes from what’s called Section 106 contributions from developers (not from CBC Council Tax) In this case the 106 came fro...
m the Dukeminster development next to Sainsbury’s. We got £220k 106 – plus £30k (and £5k a year running costs) from the Town Council, so we should get a decent park! Well done Dunstable Town Councillors!

The Town Council (who will run the park) will be setting up a project team in the New Year and we want representatives of Skateboarders involved in the design of the park and selection of a contractor - the Dunstable Skate Park Project Team (DSPPT)

The officer in charge of this fantastic project is Becky Wisbey at the Town Council. I’ve asked Becky to set up an e-mail list and add interested skateboarders to that list so that we can send progress updates and keep you all regularly informed. Please send Becky your private e-mail (not FB) so that she can add you to the list.

Becky’s e-mail is: becky.wisbey@dunstable.gov.uk. We will keep everyone informed as the project develops. NY"

Exciting news!

Dunstable will be getting its very own Pop Up Shop and Dunstable Town Council are seeking local support to make this happen.

Refurbishments are taking place on a town centre unit, Dunstable Town Council are looking for donations and sponsorship for the shop fit out. Do you run a shop fitters or a print and design company? Would you like to support small independent traders? Then they love to hear from you. In return your support would be recognised in all local and national marketing material.

Dunstable Town Council are also looking for businesses to fill the shop. Do you trade from home, on the internet or perhaps in another town and would like to try trading from a shop in Dunstable for 2 to 4 weeks during October, November or Dece, ber of this year?

Blue Skies and Volunteers from Dunstable in Bloom Group welcomed the Judges today from Anglia in Bloom.

So many volunteers have put in some real hard work to make this day succesful. Myself and others from Dunstable in Bloom checked the route for any unexpected litter on the two and half hour trip round Dunstable (there was no traffic problems either!) Thank you all for keeping your roads clean and tidy in particular Kingsbury Avenue, Jeansway, Lisombe Road and Langdale and Lowther Road. Here's hoping the Judges were impressed enough with the presentations by volunteers and all the flower displays and community projects going on in Dunstable that we can once again be proud of a 'Gold Award'.... Fingers crossed for September results day!

"Return of the Duck"

On the 21st of June the infamous Duck was reutned to its rightful place on the 'Church Street Bridge'.

We have had some information with regard to the "Duck" from Cllr Nigel Young, it was he who also commissioned and therefore has restored the all new Duck to the Duck Bridge to it’s historical place in Dunstable legend....

~ "We couldn’t put the ducks on the parapet as, ridiculously, BAM Nuttal said it might affect the integrity of the concrete (can’t see it myself).
Original Duck sadly passed away a) because it was paper and b) because it was stuck onto half a ton of steel cut from the old bridge and too heavy to mount.
But – New bridge, new ducks – and part of the continuing economic regeneration of Dunstable"

Dunstable Live in Grove House Gardens on 15th June 2013

Once again Dunstable Town Council put on another splendid display for Dunstable Live. There were many live acts raising the spirits of thousands of people from in and around Dunstable. Plus many more had travelled miles to this FREE event. Here's looking forward to Dunstable's next 'Live Music Event' in Grove House Gardens.

Dunstable Mayor Councillor John Chatterley opened this amazing Live Music Event in front of thousands of people, who all spent a fantastic afternoon and evening enjoying great bands, singers and their music!
